the viewer a better feel for the Avatar® Course
through experiential and interactive
exercises. The form boxes set up for

Fill in the blanks with spontaneous
answers (the first thing that comes
to mind without editing)
The exercise below was taken from
material presented by
Lawrence LeShan PHD on
his tape set "Mobilizing The Life Force, also
in his book "Cancer as a Turning
Point", publisher Plume.
Imagine a fairy godmother has
come to give you two things the first being that
in 6 months your outer life
( friends, job, income, location etc. ) could be anything
that you wanted.
There are no limitations as to what this is. In question 3 it has
to be things "in you" and not
any outside people or things.
The second thing is that
in six months your inner life (feelings toward self and
others) could be anything that
you wanted.
Avatar® is a course that
gives you ways of managing the beliefs in your own
consciousness. More importantly...it's
a way of uncovering and removing
beliefs that keep you fogged in and grounded. Beliefs that are so
transparent to you...you don't see them...you see through them.
And think, that's just the way
the world is. These are
the beliefs that keep you from achieving your goals,
and realizing your dreams.
Let's take a look at some of
the beliefs we have about ourselves. Some
of the beliefs that are shaping
our experience of life.
"About You"-Answer
these questions spontaneously. Use the first thing that comes to
mind. Without editing. These answers are just for you...so
be honest.
See anything you might want
to change on that list? We'll come back to this a little later. You just made a list of a collection
of beliefs that define you in a certain way. It's not the definitive list...it's a
viewpoint.
The dictionary defines viewpoint
as: A mental position from which something is viewed. We suggest...viewpoint is more
than that. It's also a way one defines one's self. This definition filters what is viewed.
When you change your viewpoint...you change your experience. Harry Palmer,
the founder of Avatar, writes in the ReSurfacing® Workbook
"The easiest way to change
something is to change your viewpoint.
this does not always result
in a change in the world, but it will
place you in the optimum
position should you wish to make a
change in the world"
So let's work on shifting viewpoints.
In the ReSurfacing® Workbook there's a exercise
called THIS AND THAT.
The objective is to demonstrate the effect of changing viewpoints.
The expected results are insights and an increase in responsibility.
INSTRUCTIONS 1
Pick out something and think of
it as "This_________________________________"
Pick out something and think
of it as "That_________________________________"
Repeat with large and small
objects, close and far objects, until you are confident of your
ability to make anything this
or that.
INSTRUCTIONS 2
Create each of the following first
as "this (item)" and then as "that (same item)"
(on your answers)
(on the concept)
your name
body
a pain
mind
an injury
self
a handicap
reality
a country
truth
now
here
time
world
universe
Make a selection of a viewpoint
and then feel what it feel like to hold that viewpoint. What would
your attention be on? What kinds of experiences would you attract
if you were operating
from that viewpoint. Click the back button to return to this page.
One interesting viewpoint to
explore is an expanded viewpoint.
EXPANSION EXERCISE- ( taken from
ReSurfacing®) The process of ceasing to identify oneself
with a location or definition
and gradually assuming the beingness of a larger whole is called integration.
Consider when you feel the flesh of your hand. Do you feel each cell
that makes up your hand, or do you feel an integrated sensation of the
entire hand? What if you were able to relocate the boundaries of
the location or definition you consider you? Do you end at the skin?
Or do you extend beyond? What do you believe.
Objective: To convey an
experience of expansion and integration
Expected results: Insights,
reconciliation.
Instructions

Now to finish up fill in the
blanks for the About You exercise again.
Were there any differences between
your two lists? Was there one that you would prefer to live from? The Avatar
Course gives you the tools to live deliberately. You start to become keenly aware of your beliefs
and how they are affecting what you experience in life. The course allows you to discreate
those beliefs that are attracting experiences you no longer prefer and put in place more
fun and exciting ones. Thanks for spending a little time exploring.
